Where to begin, the budget hearing, having been approved by the council, was scheduled and advertised. Monday, August 24 at 6pm. 6pm came and went…no council members. The council president finally arrived and immediately verbally chastised (abused) OUR city clerk for scheduling the meeting at 6pm. He then demanded that future meetings not be scheduled at 6pm. It was abusive. It was in public. It was outa line, unnecessary, uncalled for and meant to demean. I could use the word “unprofessional” butt…these are people elected to manage the workings of OUR city. WE pay them. They are not “professionals”. They are OUR employees.
So, the next and future public hearings will be at 7pm? Wouldn’t want OUR employees to be inconvenienced to do a job for US that THEY wanted.
Amanda Darland is the councilperson who brought forth the pickelball/basketball proposal and is now leading the charge. The council voted to apply for a quarter million dollar (250k) cement playground. Done. Apparently the area (park) has been named. Done. Apparently a quarter million dollars is not enough money and the council wants more money from residents. Apparently dozens of people have expressed interest in having this fenced cement slab constructed. What isn’t apparent, is any involvement or input by anyone at any meeting. Yet now they have a meeting, on a weeknight, at 8pm to ask for more money and input on money they already spent? Hmmm…and in the future when asked? You can bet on the response, “we had a meeting butt no one came”.
It also begs the question as to why the people who actually do all the work were never asked or involved?
