So instead of having a road grader on hand (at our shop) which could be/was used any day of the week, any time of day, 365 days a year for multiple types of work…the council, with the urging of one member, has decided not to renew the lease agreement which included all maintenance and repairs as needed.
System in place worked well…butt it is not what I (council member) want…
If we need a road grader, we will pay the local contractor to do the work.
Of course this adds to our employee work load/lead time.
Of course the work needs to be scheduled around the contractor.
Of course the billing hours, costs of the local contractor was not discussed or considered.
Of course if we pay/spend a few thousand dollars less it is a win win…
Due to the loss of the road grader, the council will spend thousands of dollars for snow plows on the pick up trucks we own.
Of course the pick up trucks will need added equipment and maintenance.
Of course anyone and everyone knows, by mere employment, how to use the equipment.
And the plows can only be used when it snows. If it snows.
Not July.
We didn’t need these pick up truck plows before, why do we need them now?
We still have the plows for/on the dump trucks, the front loader, the backhoe, the ATV.
It is only money folks. Your money. We get paid to spend it. And if it is what I want…

Our public works recently removed trees from private land on Highland Drive. The land owner now wants to subdivide and build. Hmm…
Trash Collection
Seems the FREE dumpster’s (3), at the FREE sewer dump near Jack’s have been removed.
The dumpsters, the equipment, the labor and all costs to provide and maintain was paid for, and is paid for by CITY taxpayers.
